Tendulkar was born in Mumbai.His father shri ramesh tendulkar a Marathi novelist,named Tendulkar after his favourite music director Sachin Dev Barman.Tendular has two brother and one sister[Ajit,Nitin and Savitai].Tendulkar attented Sharadashram Vidyamandir,where he began his cricketing career under the guidance of his coach Shri Ramakant Achrekar.During his school days he attended the MRF Pace Foundation to train as fast bowler,but Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee,who took a world record 355 test wickets was unimpressed,suggesting that Tendulker focus on his batting instead
Tendulkar played his first test match against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989.
